A Sheffield medical centre could be forced to close due to budget cuts.
Page Hall Medical Centre is facing losing 21 per cent of its budget – £258,000 a year – because of funding changes imposed on Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group by NHS England.
Kate Bellingham, a GP at the surgery, said: “We are facing massive financial challenges at the moment and we don’t know how we are going to remain viable. We hope closure won’t happen, but that is the threat.
“If we lose the full 21 per cent, I can’t see how we can continue to operate.”
The Owler Lane surgery was told the cut is going ahead from October, but the final decision has been delayed for two weeks for further consultation.
