Organisers of a Sheffield gala are celebrating after the event raised a bumper amount for charity.
Ecclesfield Gala raised £7,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support, beating last year’s total by over £1,000.
Over the years the gala has raised in excess of £125,000, which has been used at the palliative care unit at the Northern General Hospital.
Committee member Michael Whiting, from Chapeltown, said: “The event is organised by volunteers and it’s a real team effort.
“We’re really pleased not only to have raised such a fantastic amount for Macmillan but to put on an event which the people of Ecclesfield really get behind and enjoy.”
Entertainment at this year’s event included a Kennel Club-approved dog show, Phoenix falconry display, Dearne Youth Band, parrot rescue, dog agility display, classic motorbikes, stalls, games, amusement rides, slides, homemade cakes and even belly dancing.
