Firefighters were alerted to flames at PerfectHome on Pinstone Street at 3.40am and found the first floor of the building well alight.

Police closed the road off while the firefighting operation was underway.

Gareth Massarella, manager of the Sheffield branch of PerfectHome, said: “The fire brigade responded to a fire alarm at our store in the early hours.
“They put out a fire in our second floor store room. It damaged some furniture stock and water damage was caused to the ground floor of the shop as the fire was put out.
“The store will be closed while a clean up is carried out. Our Sheffield team is working from the Rotherham store in the meantime.
“Our usual Sheffield store telephone number has been diverted, so if customers have any queries I’d ask them to please call as usual on 0114 2762866.”
