Proposals for two new all-weather pitches at Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre in Norton are recommended for approval at a Sheffield Council planning meeting next week.
The pitches, along with a new pavilion building and car park, will be created as part of a £10 million pilot scheme being carried out in Sheffield to boost football at grassroots level.
A report was published last year by the FA which outlined the falling involvement of English players at the top level of the game, and outlined how this should be addressed.
Work got under way last month on a wider revamp of the Graves facility. The £16m project will create a new six lane swimming pool, fitness suite and a centre for gymnastics and trampolining.
