A florist from Sheffield is to work alongside international designers at a floral extravaganza in Oxford.

Jo Marshall, owner of Valerie of Dore Florist, has been given a place by The Society of Floristry Trust to attend Flowers@Oxford, at The University of Oxford.

She will work alongside some of the best floral designers from around the world and plans to use some of her new-found techniques back at her Sheffield shop.

Jo said: “This is a real honour.

“I intend to learn many new techniques which I can then incorporate into my own business and my very popular flower classes at the shop.

“I am sure this experience will benefit many people in Sheffield and North Derbyshire as I aim to inspire other florists and flower arrangers through both Valerie of Dore and Sheffield floral club.”

Jo will work alongside the likes of Gregor Lersch, Robert Koene and Joseph Massie at the three day Flowers@Oxford event, from August 22 to 24.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend and enjoy demonstrations, workshops and competitions in the university’s Lady Margaret Hall.

The hall will be decorated in spectacular style by the floral team before the event opens to the public.
