Sudden downpours of heavy rain have left parts of Sheffield battling standing water this evening.
Flash flooding has hit Nether Edge, with businesses reporting water in the road and a councillor for the area urging motorists to be careful.
Rain and thunderstorms swept through the city today, leaving drains overflowing on some roads.
Nether Edge councillor Nikki Bond said on Twitter: “The drains on Abbeydale Road near the Rude Shipyard have been overwhelmed by the flash rain and the road is flooded.
“I’ve reported it to Coun Jack Scott as an urgent issue but please be careful if you are travelling that way.”
Nether Edge Safer Neighbourhood Team tweeted: “There is standing water EVERYWHERE in #netheredge. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE slow down and drive carefully and don’t soak pedestrians!”
Business Homemade By Thelma’s in Nether Edge Road posted a picture of flooding in the area, adding “Nether Edge is flooded!”.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had received calls relating to flooding caused by blocked drains in Sheffield and that it had redirected people to the council.
