A Sheffield-based firm is celebrating after receiving official recognition from the Queen of its growth abroad.
President Engineering Group Ltd, a manufacturer of specialist products for the industrial gas and energy sectors, has received the Queen’s Award for International Trade, which goes to firms which excel at international trade.
They are the highest official UK honour for British businesses and are only awarded on the advice of the Prime Minister after leading industry, commerce, trade union and government officials examine applications.
The award was officially presented during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in July, but this week the Queen’s representative, the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Andrew Coombs, visited the firm to celebrate its achievement and recognise the efforts of all members of staff.
Over 100 members of staff attended the event held at its factory on President Way, Brightside.
Marie Cooper, President Engineering Group Ltd’s finance director, said: “It was a great honour to welcome the Lord Lieutenant to our business to present this prestigious award to our staff.
“The Queen’s Award is a reflection of everyone’s efforts and contributions which has enabled us to build our reputation for world class manufacturing.
“We would like to thank the Lord Lieutenant for attending and making this such a memorable and special day.”
The firm is one of 105 firms in the UK to achieve the prestigious accolade for its overseas sales growth over the last three years.
Ms Cooper added: “With our export business continuing to grow, we are entering a very exciting era and it is fantastic that we have been able to achieve this accolade in our fifth year.”
Established in 2010, the firm generates 88 per cent of its turnover from export business.
