Sheffield firefighters to wash cars for charity

Firefighters hope to make a splash for charity with a car washing session this weekend.

As well as washing cars, firefighters will also be on hand to offer road and fire safety advice, and to promote the free Home Safety Checks offered by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Yellow fire helmets for children will also be on sale during the day and all money raised will be donated to the charity.

It costs £9 million a year to keep The Fire Fighters Charity running. The charity, which provides support to firefighters, does not receive Government funding.
