Doncaster Rovers Belles aren't getting ahead of themselves in the race for the FAWSL2 title, according to captain Leandra Little.

Neil Redfearn’s side have three games left to play, starting at neighbours Sheffield FC tonight.

They also have title rivals Millwall Lionesses and Oxford United Women still to face.

Belles currently have a four-point cushion at the top and still need six points to mathematically guarantee the title.

“In previous seasons we’ve got too ahead of ourselves and we’ve always ended up finishing second,” said Little.

“What we’re trying to focus on this season is the process rather than the outcome.

“We’re just taking each game as it comes, really focusing on winning that individual game, and putting ourselves in a good position for the next week.

“If we keep doing our thing and winning our games, then nobody’s going to catch us.”

Belles make the short journey to the Home of Football to face Sheffield FC Ladies on Wednesday.

“It’s always going to be a challenge against Sheffield FC,” said Little.

“We know they’re a good side and we know it’ll be a tough test.

“A local derby on a midweek night is always going to be a tasty one and it’s always a good one to be involved in, so we’re looking forward to that.

“They’re a physical side but we are when we need to be as well, and that’s the good thing about us.

“Not only can we play football but we’ve got the ability to, not be dirty in any way shape or form, but get stuck in and be strong, and we’ve got that throughout the squad.”

Belles came from behind to beat London Bees 3-1 on Saturday and bounce back from their first league defeat of the season at Brighton.

“London Bees have really improved since we played them towards the beginning of the season, and that’s all credit to them,” said Little.

“They made it difficult for us but we showed our quality.

“It may not be pretty at times, but at other times it is. That just shows a good side that’s able to win when it’s not necessarily going our way. That’s put us in a good position to go on and try to win the rest of our games.”
