Police are investigating the letters, which were sent to Southey Green man Lee Dean.

The nine letters appear to want to drive Lee out of a job at an unnamed club.

Lee worked behind the bar at Wadsley Bridge Working Men’s Club from December 20 to February 24, during which time the letters began to appear. The club stresses it had nothing to do with them.

The letters, written in capitals and broken sentences, all contain threats.

One says: “WHATCH YOUR BACK AT THE CLUB WE KNOW YOU GETTING THAT JOB HAS BEEN A FIDDLE”.

Another warns: “DONT FORGET YOU ARE ALONE IN THAT CLUB HOUSE AT NIGHT NO DOG”.

The final letter, sent after Lee lost his job at the club, said: “WE TOLD YOU WE WOULD GET YOU OUT AND WE HAVE, HA HA, NOW GET YOUR LASS KIDS AND DOGS AND GO HOME”.

Angry Lee, aged 33, who lives with his children and partner Kayly Boswell, today condemned the ‘nasty’ people who sent the letters.

He said: “I’ve got three kids. It’s upset all three of them. My partner is scared because of the letters.

“It’s just not on. They think they can just do what they want. They are ruining a family’s life.

“They are some nasty people.”

Lee was worried for his family’s safety so alerted South Yorkshire Police about the letters.

A spokesman said: “Police are investigating following reports a threatening letter was sent to a 33-year-old man from the Southey Green area of Sheffield.

“The matter was reported to police – the man is understood to have received a letter containing threats”

Wadsley Bridge Working Men’s Club secretary Julie Barratt said committee members had no idea who was sending the letters, but were helping police where they could and had submitted handwriting samples.

The club has about 2,600 members.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 898 of January 4.
