Sheffield Eagles to be driven by new sponsors

Sheffield Eagles’ return to the Steel City has had instant reward after they landed a deal with local company DBL Logistics, who will become the club’s new principal sponsor.

The two parties have agreed a 12-month deal, with a further option to extend for a further year, which will see the DBL name emblazoned on the Eagles’ home, away and training wear ahead of the new season which starts on February 7th.

Director of rugby Mark Aston said: “We are delighted to have DBL Logistics on board and it’s fantastic that they have stepped up to support us in what we are trying to achieve as a club.

DBL Logistics managing director David Clarkson added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be Sheffield Eagles’ new sponsor ahead of the new season.

“We are extremely proud to be associated with one of the most well-known rugby league clubs and we look forward to joining them on their journey as they push towards promotion to the Super League. We are proud of our Sheffield roots and we do all we can to have a positive impact on the local community.”

The Eagles will move back into the boundaries of the city for the 2016 season after agreeing to play their home games at Sheffield Hallam University Sports Park on Bawtry Road.

The club have also confirmed that they will shortly be moving offices to take up residence at the Olympic Legacy Park – the site where their new stadium is being constructed - leaving their current base at Manvers Park in Rotherham.

With a Tinsley-based company now on board as their principal sponsor, and the club shortly fully functional back within the city, it marks staggering progress after they spent the majority of last season playing at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium.

“The deal (with DBL) represents a significant investment and is reflective of the positive direction that the club is going in,” Aston added. “We now look ahead to the new season with great optimism.”

With the first home game of the season against Halifax less than two months away, work is set to be stepped up to ensure that their new Bawtry Road home is ready for the new campaign.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed the Eagles will take on Swinton in a friendly on Sunday 17th January at Sedgley Park (3pm).
