Sheffield Eagles: Minchella calls for consistency

Elliot Minchella says that Sheffield Eagles need to find a way to reproduce the form they showed against Bradford Bulls on a more consistent basis.

The former Leeds operator scored the second try in a famous Eagles’ victory at Odsal Stadium, as Mark Aston’s side breathed some much-needed life into their season.

Minchella now believes that consistency is key as they look to build on their victory against Oldham on Sunday.

“There is no hiding behind it, we underperformed over Easter.” Minchella told The Star.

“At Bradford we got back to basics and played it simple, and we came out on top and we are over the moon with that. It was a very good performance by everyone.

“We won’t fall in love with ourselves but we will look to kick on now and build on this at Oldham.

“We haven’t really put an 80 minute performance together all year. At Bradford we were all 9s and 10s, I couldn’t fault anyone. It is whether we turn up, we want to be at 8 and 9 again on Sunday.”

The victory for the Eagles lifted them to seventh position, just three points behind fourth placed Bradford.
