Sheffield Eagles legend Keith Senior is gearing up for a charity cycle challenge that will take in part of the Tour de France route in Yorkshire.

Senior who is part of the coaching team at the Eagles is off on Quest 14, a gruelling eight-day ride from Perpignan, France to Leeds.

It’s the latest test for ‘iron man’ Senior who completed eight marathons in eight days in April.

The former Great Britain centre played 140 games for Eagles and was part of the Challenge Cup winning team before joining Leeds Rhinos in 1999.

He played 300 games for Leeds before his retirement in 2011.

He will cycle more than 1,000 miles at an average of about 130 a day starting next Sunday.

The Quest 14 will raise funds towards three charities - Sue Ryder - Wheatfields, The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust and Joining Jack.

To link into the Tour de France launch, the team will cycle the Leeds - Harrogate route on the final day of the challenge.

The ride will end when they deliver the match ball for the Leeds -Catalan game at Headingley Stadium.
