Aston has cast his net far and wide to secure a new look full-time outfit for next season, with 10 players arriving during a carefully-constructed recruitment drive.

With the new season getting underway on February 7, the Eagles’ chief has wasted no time in putting his plans in place. The majority of his close-season business has been done early, but Aston still insists there are more to come as he looks to place the final pieces of the jigsaw together in time for the Championship curtain raiser at Workington Town.

“There still might be one or two more coming in,” Aston revealed to The Star.

“We are looking at the half-back area and we would like another player in at centre. We have our eyes firmly on where we need to add and there are deals almost in place, all we have to do now is cement them and we are looking to do that within the next month.”

With new recruits arriving from Super League, The Championship, Championship One and Papua New Guinea, Aston has left no stone unturned as he looks to mastermind the Eagles’ first season back as a full-time outfit.

The bulk of his recruitment now looks to be complete, with one or two more expected to join to conclude arguably the Eagles biggest close-season shopping spree in their history.
