Sheffield drug dealer found with £2k package of Class A drugs is jailed

A Sheffield drug dealer, who attempted to hide a package of £2,000 of Class A drugs on a railway track, has been put behind bars for four years.

Marcus Bradley Allen, of no fixed abode, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday, March 2 charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.Allen was arrested last month by detectives working on Operation Fortify, an op aimed at dismantling gangs and removing criminals from the streets of the Manor, Arbourthorne and Norfolk Park areas of Sheffield in a bid to make residents feel safer where they live.On the afternoon of February 8, detectives saw Allen acting suspiciously in a car on Duke Street, Sheffield.When officers approached the car, Allen ran from the area, throwing a package containing what was found to be heroin and cocaine on to a railway track below the road.Detective Sergeant Jamie Smith, from Operation Fortify, said: “Allen was quickly arrested for drugs related offences and the package was recovered from the railway line.“After analysis, it was found to contain Class A drugs, estimated to be worth about £2,000. We also recovered further Class A and B drugs from the car.”26-year-old Allen pleaded guilty and was jailed for four years.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Smith added: “I am pleased with the sentence handed out to Allen on Thursday and I hope it acts as a deterrent to those involved in drug related criminality.“We will continue to identify and arrest individuals who are involving themselves in the supply of controlled drugs and we have a team of dedicated officers who will relentless target those people, to ensure they are brought to justice.
