Brother and sister Jack Russell pair Billy, aged 11, and Sadie, aged 12, are the two oldest dogs at Sheffield-based animal rescue charity Rain Rescue.

They are in the care of centre staff after their elderly owner died suddenly and a spokesperson told how they are ‘inseparable, born to the same parents one year apart and they have never known life without each other.’

Lauren Sanderson, deputy charity manager, said: “We love older dogs here at Rain Rescue. They make just as good pets as the younger dogs. Often older dogs already have basic training in place and contradictory to the saying you can teach an old dog new tricks.

“Older dogs like Billy and Sadie need homes just as much as the younger ones but will often be overlooked, whoever ends up taking them home will not be disappointed.”

Anyone who can offer a loving home to the pair is asked to contact Rain Rescue on 07725888207 or visit www.rainrescue.co.uk

Rain Rescue was founded in 2002 and is based in Northern Avenue about a mile out of the city centre. They specialise in helping pets and their owners in times of crisis, such as when families face eviction from their homes or when animals are found abandoned on the streets.
