Sheffield depot objection is withdrawn

Have your say

REGENERATION bosses have withdrawn their objection to plans for a rail depot at the old Tinsley Marshalling Yards in Sheffield

The depot would receive deliveries of aggregates for Sheffield’s £2 billion Streets Ahead road repairs scheme by rail rather than lorry.

But the Sheffield City region Local Enterprise Partnership had objected because the area is within the Enterprise Zone, where it is trying to attract high-tech manufacturing industries. The LEP says it now accepts the environmental benefits of the depot.
