His three cold-killers were jailed for a minimum of 86 years at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday.

Ahead of the sentencing, Adrian Waterman, prosecuting, read a statement from Mr Bodell’s sister, Sharni.

The statement read: “We not only miss our brother, but also miss a friend... we always had a laugh and it’s hard to get the laughter back now he’s gone.”

Sharni said that Grant ‘would do anything’ for his two young children, Brendan and Bromley.

The statement added: “What happened to Grant was wrong. I know he was no angel but he did not deserve that. He is still a son, brother, and dad.

“Whatever sentence these men get, it will not bring Grant back. He did nothing to them to deserve this.”

It added: “Neither my mum or dad have got over what happened and I don’t think they ever will.

“in 2012, grant had a serious motorbike accident and nearly died. Since then mum and dad always saw him as special.”
