A nurse is swapping her ward rounds for a non-stop 160-mile race through the desert.
Sue Braddock, who has worked in neurosurgery and neuromedicine at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital for 19 years, will take on the gruelling challenge with her husband Shaun.
The Sheffield couple are training hard for the Ocean Floor Race, equivalent to six back-to-back marathons in blistering heat, to boost the coffers of city charity Neurocare.
Sue, aged 50, said: “As a nurse on the neuro wards I’m so grateful for the enhancements and services Neurocare have provided to help me do my job better and to provide the best care possible to our patients.”
Sue’s mum and Shaun, aged 51, have both been treated on the wards.
Sue added: “We want to give back to the charity so we did The Three Peaks Challenge in 2012 and now we’re doing this to try to raise more.”
