Community groups, schools, residents and businesses are being urged to give their city a spring clean.

All next week, leading up to Saturday, March 21 - the first day of spring – a number of litter picks will be taking place across Sheffield.

Councillor Jayne Dunn, Sheffield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Streetscene, said: “The ‘Clean Up’ week is all about encouraging people to take responsibility for the community that they live in.

“We all have a part to play in keeping our city tidy. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone coming together to make a difference and I know if everyone pulls together we can make this a big success.”

Community groups, residents and businesses willing to take part will be provided with litter picking tools on a first come, first served basis.

The council will dispose of the litter collected.

Anyone interested in taking part should call 0114 2734567.
