Sheffield council issues advice over surface water on city's roads

Sheffield council has issued a warning about surface water on the city's road's this morning following flash flooding yesterday and more rain this morning.

Council workers spent the night clearing flooded roads across Sheffield after torrential downpours left many under water.

A council spokesman said: "Please drive with care this morning as many roads have standing surface water on them."

This morning, Limb Lane in Dore; Ecclesfield Road at Woolley Wood Road; part of Sheffield Road, Tinsley and Newman Road, Wincobank in Sheffield are blocked because of flooding.

The council has cleared a number of roads including Deerlands Avenue, Parson Cross; Fife Street, Wincobank; Twentywell Road, Bradway; Earl Marshall Road, Fir Vale and Manchester Road, Crosspool.

Hicks Street in Neepsend; the junction of Owler Lane and Upwell Street, Fir Vale; Napier Street at the junction with Cemetery Road, Sharrow; Bocking Lane, Beauchief and Popple Street, Page Hall were also cleared overnight.
