Sheffield Council in bid to help staff get more active

Thousands of Sheffield Council staff are set to benefit from a new health and wellbeing programme to improve physical activity levels.

Leisure operator SIV, which runs venues including Ponds Forge, has been selected to run fitness classes and health programmes at Sheffield Council’s Moorfoot office.

SIV’s fitness specialists will initially deliver 14 morning, lunchtime and evening classes a week for employees from the office building on The Moor.

Over the next 12 months, they will also put on a variety of other activities and opportunities for council employees to get active.

Rob Womack, healthy partnerships manager for SIV, said: “We’re really proud to have been chosen to deliver this exciting health and wellbeing programme for Sheffield Council employees.

“It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to build our partnerships with Sheffield Council and Activity Sheffield to help improve the health and wellbeing of thousands of staff by running a range of fitness sessions for all abilities.”

Diana Radford, head of physical activity at Sheffield Council, said: “Physical activity has so many benefits. It is proven to help you feel better, look better even sleep better.”
