Sheffield Council hits the streets to answer your questions

The council is holding a series of ‘Question Time’ style sessions to discuss issues that matter to people in their area.

The next is on Wednesday, January 27, at 6.30pm in the Terry Wright Community Centre at Newfield Green.

It will be the third in the series of the ‘cabinet in the community’ meetings to give people the chance to ask questions and get involved in the debate about council issues.

Events include the opportunity to put questions to the relevant cabinet member.

Council leader Coun Julie Dore said: “Over the last few years we have found the cabinet in the community events to be a positive way of connecting with people across the city. We’ve had some really lively debates and discussions on issues that matter to people in those areas.

“I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to take part in some more really important debates in each part of the city. I hope as many people as possible will use the sessions as a way of engaging in democracy at a local level.”

The items for discussion will be drawn up by local people and put to the cabinet in the hour and a half session.

Residents will be able to submit written questions at least five days in advance of each meeting by emailing [email protected].

Other meetings will take place from 6.30pm and 8pm in the east of the city, at a venue to be confirmed, on February 16, in the north at High Green Miners Welfare Community Hall, Angram Road, on February 17, in the north east at Shirecliffe Community Centre, Sicey Avenue, on February 24 and in central at St Bart’s, Primrose Hill, Langsett, on March 16.
