A litter blitz led to 45 bags of rubbish being cleared from a Sheffield community.
Three tyres, a carpet, a keyboard, cones and a jacket were also collected in the Birley Blitz. The second event of its kind targeted open space between the Scowerdons and East Glade estates in Frecheville, which was blighted by dumped waste. Residents, councillors and volunteers from community organisations united to carry out the crackdown - with two householders providing refreshments for the busy clean-up crews.
Birley Coun Karen McGowan said: “It was a real community effort, and many residents commented on the hard work everyone was doing - some also came out and joined us.”
