Sheffield College catering pupils win awards
Two staff and four students won two gold, one silver and three bronze medals in this year’s Salon Culinaire.
The annual event attracts scores of competitors from the industry as well as colleges and universities and aims to showcase the skills and talent within the sector.

Hide AdGregg Rodgers, Chef Lecturer, The Sheffield College, said: “I’m proud of what has been achieved and the fantastic work by everyone involved.
“The results reflect the hours each person put into the pieces. There’s always a great team spirit in the run up to the competition with lots of advice and encouragement given to the competitors.”
Chris Kerrigan, Cake Decorating Lecturer, won a gold medal for creating a floral exhibit in the sugar craft category.
Student Karen Fox won a gold medal, best in class and a chair of judges award in the sugar craft category.

Hide AdGregg Rodgers, Chef Lecturer, won a silver medal, best in class and best kitchen and larder display for works in fat.
Student Claire Cooper won a bronze medal for a decorated birthday cake.
Students Victoria Cruickshank and Hannah Chaddock won a bronze medal each in the student bread roll and loaf category.
Karen Fox said: “I was absolutely gobsmacked when I won a gold medal. It’s fantastic recognition of all of the hard work that I’ve put in.”
