Sheffield City Council agrees footpath closure
Developers want to knock down the former Hawkhills Residential Home, on Stanwood Road, Stannington, and build 20 new homes.

Hide AdExtinguishment Order must first be made and confirmed," the planning report states," the planning report states, written by Philip Beecroft, head of highway maintenance at the authority.
"The path is a cul-de-sac footpath and there are no recorded or claimed rights of way that continue through the site.
"Therefore the closure of the footpath should not adversely affect the public’s enjoyment of the area and will have no detrimental effect on the surrounding highway network and its users."
Members of the council's planning and highways committee approved the application when they meet on Tuesday, May 1.
