Sheffield will be only one of two places in the UK where Star Wars fans can really feel the force as they watch blockbuster The Force Awakens.

The latest instalment of the sci-fi franchise arrives in UK cinemas tomorrow, and any movie-goer planning on seeing the film at Cineworld Sheffield on the new IMAX with laser screen will see it as director JJ Abrams intended.

The director filmed at least one scene in full-width 70mm IMAX resolution, and only Cineworld Sheffield and the Empire Leicester Square IMAX cinema are able to cater for this.

The Sheffield cinema took delivery of the new IMAX technology back in October as part of a major refurbishment which also meant it is one of only two cinemas in the UK to offer the 4DX in the new 140-seat auditorium which includes high-tech motion seats and special effects such as wind, fog, bubbles, water, rain and scents.
