Sheffield centre hosts doggy paddle

IT WILL not just be dogs’ noses which are wet when canines take the plunge for charity.

About 30 canines are set to take part in a swimathon especially for man’s best friend at Sheffield pet hydrotherapy centre Aquavet.

The event, on Saturday, February 16, will see dogs spend about 15 minutes moving in the water. Each one will be sponsored, with proceeds going to Sheffield Dog Rescue.

The swimathon doubles as an open day for the rehabilitation centre in Oak Street, Heeley. There will be cake stalls, a raffle, refreshments and chance for dogs and owners to get together from 8.30am.

Last year, a total of 36 dogs took to the water to raise £2,800 for Support Dogs.
