The money will go towards Unity Gym Project, which offers vital support and opportunities for young people.

Saeed Brasab, from Unity Gym, said: “Everyone here at Unity Gym Project is so grateful for the kind donation. The money will be used to help improve our facilities and help the people of Sheffield. We cannot thank them enough because a donation of this size will make such a difference.”

Arnold Clark and Rental, the largest independently owned car company in Europe, opened a branch in Sheffield 30 years ago and the donation is to mark their anniversary.

Magid chose Unity Gym Project to support as one of his three Lord Mayor’s charities during his term in the position. Before his term is up he aims to beat the national record by raising £100,000.

At the end of the year Unity, along with Flourish and Sheffield Woman's Counselling and Therapy Services, will be presented with cheques from the funds Magid has raised.  Margaret Spiers, operations manager at Arnold Clark, said: “We’re incredibly proud to make this donation in celebration of the 30th anniversary of our Sheffield branch.”
