Sheffield bus ticket costs go up - or down

The price of some bus tickets in Sheffield will change from Sunday as part of a fares shake-up.

First Bus is rounding up - or rounding down - the cost of some of its single tickets to the nearest 50p, as the company says this will reduce the need for change.

Tickets priced £1.40, £1.80 and £2.30 will increase to £1.50, £2 and £2.50 respectively, while singles costing £1.20, £2.70 and £3.20 are going down to £1, £2.50 and £3.

The firm also says some £1.80 tickets are being cut to £1.50, but the price of a FirstWeek Sheffield pass will increase by 50p to £13.

Managing director Kevin Belfield said: “In some cases we’ve increased fares to reflect the fact many costs associated with operating buses are increasing and therefore we need to review our fares from time to time to take account of this.”
