A MOBILE phone and a CD player were stolen from a car parked on Abney Drive, Meersbrook, Sheffield, and a burglar forced a door to break into a house on Chesterfield Road, Woodseats, on Tuesday.

The same day a house was broken into on Middle Hay Rise in Gleadless Valley by a burglar who got in after a window was left open.

And on nearby Blackstock Road police are investigating another break-in in which a property was burgled.

Police launched additional patrols in Woodseats this month after three break-ins in one week on Holmhirst Road - and officers have warned residents to be extra-careful with their security.

“People need to keep their doors locked at all times, whether they are in or out,” said Inspector Ian Stubbs from the Woodseats and Gleadless Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team.

“There are people on the lookout for easy pickings.”
