BURGER van owners have been allowed to continue trading outside Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough ground after coming to an agreement with police.
Sheffield Council’s licensing board granted a street trading permit to Martin and Tracey Judge, of Hot Spot Catering, for the forecourt of the Leppings Lane stand.
Police had objected to the burger van’s continuing presence, claiming it could hamper crowd control on matchdays - particularly with larger crowds expected following the Owls’ promotion to the Championship.
Officers said the vehicle could cause a blockage or encourage fans to linger when their aim is to clear the area as quickly as possible.
The council said police withdrew their objection.
