Henry Barlow, aged seven, was made aware about youth homelessness and wanted to do something to help them.

So on a sunny Sunday morning the Totley youngster cycled 18.2 miles along the Monsal Trail in Derbyshire in just three hours.

He had aimed to raise £200 for Roundabout - which supports young homeless people aged 16 to 24 - but he smashed through that target and raised £693.

Henry said: “For a while now I have wanted to do something to raise money to help homeless people in Sheffield.

“I feel upset when I hear about young people who have no home and who have to sleep on the streets at night.

“I am very lucky to have a warm, safe house to live in but I worry that there are lots of young children and teenagers who aren’t as lucky as me.”

Ruth Gage, Roundabout’s fundraising and communications manager, praised the youngster for all of his efforts.

She added: “We’re very grateful to Henry for completing such a tough task for the benefit of vulnerable young people in Sheffield.

“He should be very proud of what he’s accomplished at such a young age and the amount raised is absolutely fantastic.

“Thank you to everyone who sponsored him so generously.”
