Paul Gill, from Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, got up close and personal with the Ingle camp during their gruelling programme in Fuertaventura. His son Jordan is trained by the Ingles, and joined him on the Atlantic Ocean island camp. Paul said: “It was intensive training – wake, train, eat, rest, train, eat, sleep repeat, with a variety of sessions such as sparring, strength and conditioning, pad work and track runs.

“The experience of being with world class boxers, all unique, self-motivated and hard-working was inspiring.”

Gill senior has built close links with the Ingle Gym over the last two decades and said the bout was tipped as the most exciting this year: “Kell has moved up two weight divisions; there is controversy about this decision, which brings added interest.”

Reaction to the welterweight title holder v middleweight champion bout remains mixed. Former welterweight champion Andre Berto said: “I don’t know what Golovkin is doing. If he knocks him out, what is that supposed to prove? That is what everybody expected you to do.”

But Brook remains super-confident.

“A lot of fighters that fought him (GGG), have lost before they get in there. They hear that he is a big puncher, it’s like Mike Tyson....... they already lost before they got in,” Brook told Sky Sports.
“I’ve got no respect for him, I’m going to do what I want when I want. I’m always looking to knock my opponents out. I’ve visualized a knockout already against this guy. Me record speaks for itself. I like to win, I always find a way to win and that’s what we’re looking for, for this fight.”
