Sheffield boxing: Liam Cameron's camp laugh off 'Pommie' banter

Liam Cameron's camp have shrugged off a foul-mouthed taunt at a promotional event ahead of the Sheffield fighter's Commonwealth title fight with Zac Dunn, in Australia.

Chris Smedley, one of Cameron’s trainers, was on the end of the remarks made by Barry Michael, a former world champion and current Promoter/ Matchmaker living in Melbourne. Michael said: “They think they are taking the Commonwealth title back to England. Are we going to let these mother******* Poms win?” Then he added: “I reckon Zack Dunn is going to tear Liam Cameron a new *******.”

Michael was doubtless talking tongue in cheek. The 61-year-old can’t dislike Poms too much - he was born in Watford.

Brian Amatruda, owner of The Melbourne Pavilion posted a clip of his remarks on Facebook, with the message “Bit of feeling here.”

But it clearly didn’t upset Smedley and super middleweight Cameron later ‘liked’ the clip on Facebook.
