SIX Sheffield boxers were invited to the launch of a construction project in Sheffield by the firm which sponsors two of them.

Haulage company DBL Logistics invited the sportsmen to a ceremony marking the start of work to build a new £2 million warehouse on Tinsley Park Road, Sheffield.

The development will enable the firm to expand its warehouse capacity and store 6,000 pallets, instead of the 1,500 it is currently capable of handling.

Boxers Junior Witter, Richard Towers, Tom Mcassey, Jack Perry, Sam O’Mason and David Howe, who all train at Ingle Gym, Wincobank, attended the ceremony. David and Sam are sponsored by DBL and are preparing for fights during April and May.

David Clarkson, DBL Logistics managing director, said: “The weather has been so cold we needed some extra weight and power to break the ground – and who better to turn to than some of Sheffield’s best boxers!”
