“I am not thinking about Saturday in terms of whether I am top of the bill or not” says the modest super lightweight. “I am just focussing on my fight.Hardy will be coming to fight and so will. Boxing is about taking risks and I think it is going to be an exciting fight.”

“There were just a few private things that didn’t match up (at Ingles) so I decided to have some time out and then had a chat with Ryan. He’s relatively new as a trainer and hungry - and so am I, so it we fit perfectly. Ryan knows what it takes to be a success and I have had the best preparation and sparring I’ve ever had.

n Doncaster’s European super bantam champ Gavin McDonnell has been given an amazing opportunity: a WBC eliminator against Panomanian Jorge Sanchez on the Quigg v Frampton undercard.
