Sheffield boxer ready for ‘all-comers’ in 2016
That’s promoter Dennis Hobson’s pledge as the former ABA champion begins his eighth year in the professional ranks. In his time in the paid game, Cameron has won a IBO Youth super middleweight belt but lost out on Commonwealth and Central Area title challenges.
The Commonwealth match could have been a turning point in his career had he have won. But the points loss to Lancashire’s Luke Blackledge in April set him back.

Hobson said: “He’s served his apprenticeship and has been in fights where he’s not done himself justice, but he’s gone back to the drawing board, re-grouped and wants to fight anybody. We’re happy to take on all-comers. We’d like Blackledge again because Liam realises the opportunity he had and that he wasn’t positive enough. here’s much more to come from him, he’s a lovely kid but sometimes lacks a bit of spite.
He’s out on our show on February 6 (Magna Centre) and we’d like to make an English title fight against Jahmaine Smyle. Failing that we’ll get him a worthwhile opponent that tests him. We’re waiting for an opportunity whether it’s Commonwealth, British or English.
He’s ranked number nine in Britain and will take any opportunity.”
Cameron says he is looking forward to campaigning in the New Year, tweeting: “Cannot wait to get back in there, looking for the best possible opponent.”
