Sheffield boxer Liam Cameron tips Sam Sheedy to win British title
Liam Cameron believes Sam Sheedy can do what he did - beat rival Tommy Langford and win a big title.
Cameron stopped Langford on the way to winning the ABA title seven years ago. Now Sheedy is hoping for the just the same when he and Langford got to war for the British middleweight title on Saturday. “ I definitely think Sam will do well in that fight” said Cameron.
“I hope he does, the most important thing is that Sam doesn’t trade with him or tire towards the end. Langford never seems to get tired, in fact he gets stronger as the fight goes on. If Sam keep strong, keeps the right body shape and boxes him, he will beat him.
“Langford is a bit like Zac Dunn (whom Cameron meets in a Commonwealth title fight on Friday) - he has been manufactured and has beaten easier opponents to get him a good rating.
“Langford will be non-stop in his work-rate, in the amateurs I kept hitting him and he kept coming forward.
“I can see Sam getting off to a good start, keeping out of range, jabbing him, making him miss and nailing him as he comes on. He has to wait for him to fall in and catch him.
“Sam is tricky, he can mess him around, and be different while Langford will just be coming in straight lines. Sam needs to slow the pace down and pick his shots - because Langford does get hit, clean. Lewis Taylor hit him with some good shots and Sam can do the same and bring another title back to Sheffield like I will be.”
