The so-called “Golden Kid” told a press conference, ahead of the September 30 fight against an unnamed opponent that fighters worked in training camps for eight to 10 weeks for an event “which boils down to one day and that day is Friday.”

The Burngreave boxer wants people “to remember my name and remember the fighter that I am”.

He said: “I have got a great team around me with Dominic Ingle. He is a top trainer who has guided a few world champions.

“I have got my dad and uncle who have supported me all my career. Without their help I wouldn’t be where I am.

“I will be 100 per cent determined and committed to do a job.

“I fight out of the flyweight division. Within two or three fights, once I have got a little bit more experience behind me, I will be taking over the division. Everyone will get to know me.”

Gleadless Townend’s Chris Dutton, a rookie starter at 33 years old, explained why he was campaigning.

“I want to prove to people I can make something of my life,” he said. “I have got skill talent and definitely fitness that can take me to Area or British level. I will have only a short time in this game so I want as much experience and to get as many fights under my belt as I can.”

“I want to show people how much I have come on as a fighter.”
