Amy Keeley, who is 2018/19 Ms Sheffield Galaxy, will be taught how to skydive while taking on the jumps in the coming days.

She said: “The skydives I am doing for charity are different from others as usually it is one tandem skydive and part of the fundraising covers the price for the skydive.

“This is different as this is a course which involves doing six line skydives to become a qualified skydiver and I will personally be funding the course and not taking any from the fundraising.”

Amy, aged 31, hopes to raise £1,000 for The Christie Charity, which provides enhanced services for NHS patients and their families over and above what the NHS can fund.

Amy said the NHS have helped her and her family and so she wants to give something back that will help them.

She said: “I have had lots of dealings with the NHS as my uncle died in his 40s due to melanoma and I was recently operated on due to suspected melanoma.”

This will not be the first time that Amy has taken on an adrenaline filled challenge.

She has also done a tandem skydive for the British Heart Foundation, which she said she found ‘therapeutic’.

Amy, who is a mum-of-three, will also compete in a national Ms Galaxy competition next month, and if crowned Ms UK Galaxy she will go on to compete in an international contest as part of an all expenses-paid trip to Florida.

She said: “I will be competing on March 8, where all the beauty queens will be judged. We dance and model on stage in interview wear, fashion wear, evening wear and swimwear.”
