Councillors will meet next week to decide whether a city centre bar can extend its opening hours - a bid which has run into opposition.
Flares and Reflex bar, on Holly Street off West Street, wants to open until 4.30am, seven days a week.
A further hour is requested for special events and public holidays.
Currently the 1970s and 80s-themed venue shuts at 2am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 2.30am on Thursdays and 3.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The application, by the Stonegate Pub Company, has been met with objections by city centre residents, the environmental health service and Central ward Green Party councillor Robert Murphy.
“The balance between residents and the night-time economy will be correctly maintained by not granting this application,” said Coun Murphy.
A verdict is expected at a licensing committee meeting on Monday.
