A brass band in Sheffield is appealing for city residents to vote for it in the hope of landing a £1,000 grant.
It has applied for the cash from insurance firm Aviva’s ‘community fund’.
The band has 50 members , with one third aged 18 and under and the oldest members over 80.
It runs Loxley Training Band and Loxley Silver Band to accommodate members at all levels.
The band performs at a number of local community events including summer fayres, school galas, park bandstands and music festivals every year, including at least 20 performances every December.
