Sheffield band produces track to help city’s homeless

A Sheffield band is to donate the profits from its latest single to a Sheffield charity helping the homeless over Christmas.

What will you open? (an invitation to Christmas) is a new, original song by Sheffield band Early Cartographers, featuring local singer Jack Weston, aka Kid Conventional, on lead vocals.

Written and produced by Ed Cartledge, of Early Cartographers and James Fosberry, of BigDog Studios, the track has been available for download since December 7. It can be found on iTunes and Amazon.

Money raised will be donated to Homeless and Rootless at Christmas, which operates between Christmas Day and the new year to offer meals, shelter, friendship and support to vulnerable men and women, including the homeless.

Peter Herbert, chairman of HARC, said: “We’ve already got a full contingent of volunteers ready to help throughout the Christmas period but the more donations we receive, the better an experience we will be able to create for anyone who comes through our doors.

“Having a local band support us in this way is just fantastic. It’s great when the people of Sheffield come together.”
