SHEFFIELD AXE ATTACK LATEST: Man charged with attempted murder

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a horror attack on five police officers in Sheffield.

Nathan Sumner, aged 35, of Plowright Close, is due to appear before Sheffield magistrates over the incident in Gleadless Valley on Wednesday night.

Two officers called to a report of a ‘domestic incident’ in a flat in Plowright Close were attacked and three others were injured in the Co-op in nearby Blackstock Road as they attempted to apprehend the culprit.

Sumner has been charged with attempted murder, six counts of assault by beating, a section 47 assault, two counts of making threats to kill, affray, threatening a person with a blade in a public place and production of cannabis.
