Serious business starts now for Sheffield boxer Liam Cameron

Title-hunter Liam Cameron has got his game-face on - which has been painful news for Luke Blackledge, who once got the better of him.

The super middleweights have been sparring ahead of Cameron’s Commonwealth title fight in Australia on November 25 against Zac Dunn and Blackledge’s assault on the British title, against Callum Smith on December 12.

Blackledge beat the Sheffield boxer in April last year at King George’s Hall, Blackburn, to win the Commonwealth trinket.

Cameron felt he had some unfinished business against the Clitheroe kid: “I needed to put right what I got wrong” he said.

And trainer Chris Smedley says that’s what he did: “Liam was in brilliant form - he’s bang on the weight and boxing really well.

“The sparring couldn’t have gone better, Liam put on a dominating performance.”

Cameron said he is grateful for the sparring experience and is now tapering down his training as he prepares for next week’s flight Down Under.

Smedley says: “I agree with what Kell Brook said- this is Liam’s time and I’m confident he’ll return with the title.”

Dunn has completed his training; he wrapped up with 10 rounds against Poland’s undefeated Maciej Sulecki.

He told the Courier Mail newspaper: “I am sharp and ready to take the Commonwealth title.’’
