Semi-conscious dog rescued from house fire in Rotherham

Firefighters braved a smoke-filled house to rescue a dog trapped in the Rotherham property.

The border terrier was found semi conscious in the house in Red Kit Avenue, Wath-upon-Dearne, after a fire broke out in the kitchen.

The hob had been left on while the owners were out and some nearby items went up in flames.

Firefighters gave the dog oxygen at the scene before it as taken to a vet.

The fire was discovered at 7.40pm last night.
