This handsome chap came to Sheffield Animal Centre back in May after a member of the public reported that he was injured and living rough.

RSPCA Sheffield spokesman Adam Spencer said: 'On arrival, poor Zorro was in a pretty sorry state; he was a underweight, had some injuries to his back legs and had had some previous trauma to his ears. With all of this going on he was also very grumpy and uncomfortable. He would often nip, growl, swipe out and hiss if he felt threatened by you in his space.

'Now, after some treatment and lots of TLC, he's much healthier and happier. Our wonderful staff have worked with him to build up his confidence and make him happier in the company of humans.

'A few months on, we think he is ready to find his forever home. He has come on in leaps and bounds and will let his favourite people sit with him, whilst he gently fusses and brushes himself and he will also rub and sniff around your feet while you sit with him.

'That being said, everything has to be on Zorros`s terms and he will happily tell you if he doesn't like something!

'The key to this big lad's heart is most definitely food - followed closely by catnip."

Zorro has FIV '“ a condition which affects the immune system of a cat, like HIV in humans - and for this reason, he is looking to live an indoor only lifestyle, where he can be the only cat in the household.

Adam added: 'There is no reason why Zorro can`t live just as happy a life as any other normal cat, he will just need to be closely monitored and have regular check ups so he can be kept happy and healthy.'
