WORLD War II artefacts have been stolen from a car parked near Chesterfield.

Two helmets and two gas masks were taken from a car parked on Newbridge Lane, Old Whittington, overnight on Friday last week.

Inspector Russ Dakin, of the Derbyshire Police, said: “The items were sentimental as they belonged to a family member of the car’s owner, a teacher who had been planning to take them into school.

“If anyone knows anything about this incident, please contact us on 101.

“We would also appeal to anyone offered these unusual items, or if they know anything about their whereabouts to get in touch.”
