Second man dies after crash in Sheffield

A second man has died after losing a two week fight for life following a crash in Sheffield.

Joshua Henry McCarthy, aged 24, of Ryton Road, North Anston, died at the Northern General Hospital last Thursday - 13 days after a crash on the lower deck of the northbound Tinsley viaduct in which one of his passengers died.

An inquest into Mr McCarthy's death was opened and adjourned on Friday while more enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision are carried out.

Passenger Christopher James Ducker, 24, of Nursery Crescent, North Anston, Rotherham, died in the collision on Friday, January 12.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned on January 23.

The men were travelling in a silver Seat Leon which crashed into a concrete stantion at the junction with the Meadowhall roundabout.

Another passenger, aged 23, was left fighting for life after the crash.

South Yorkshire Police said he is 'still recovering'.

A 27-year-old man sustained minor injuries in the smash.
